Reese Hayes, 17 and 22-year-old Zachary Hedges have been identified as the two people killed when their cars collided head-on in a crash on Friday.

Hayes was driving east on Harrison-Brookville Road just before 5 a.m. when she crossed left of center and collided with Hedges. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

Hayes leaves behind a 16-month-old daughter. The child’s father is also deceased.

According to WKRC Local 12, Hedges graduated from Franklin County High School in 2020. Hayes went to East Central High School.

“She was born on September 14, 2006, until today, which is Friday, Aug. 16. She leaves behind her daughter, Renee Hartman. Her father, Sean Hayes. Her mother, myself,” her mom, Emilie Kenney said.

She also offered an apology to the other family if her daughter was at fault.

“I just feel for them [the Hedges]. I’m just so sorry. If Reese was at fault, I know it wasn’t intentional. She would have never wanted to hurt anyone,” Kenney said.

Hayes was working as a lifeguard and studying to get her GED, her mother revealed.
