Who was Kevin Garrison? Elkhorn Public Schools Employee Dead in Construction Zone Accident

A Elkhorn Public Schools employee has died after an accident at a construction zone in Nebraska.

Kevin Garrison, the maintenance supervisor of Elkhorn Public Schools, died after entering a geothermal well while working at a job site near Elkhorn North High School.

Police responded to reports of an injured party around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at North 180th Street and West Maple Road in northwest Omaha.

Douglas County deputies and Omaha fire rescue personnel arrived to find the individual who was injured while working at a job site north of the football field.

According to Elkhorn Public Schools, Harrison entered a geothermal well at the high school to resolve an issue and became unresponsive in the well.

In a statement, the district revealed he had been working with Elkhorn Public Schools for 20 years.

“Kevin has been a dedicated long-time employee of the Elkhorn Public Schools who was beginning his 20th year with the District. Our deepest condolences go to the Garrison family, including Kevin’s wife, Deb, current EPS principal, and his daughters Nikki and Rachel, current EPS teacher,” the district said in an email to staff and families.
