A 25-year-old woman was killed Saturday when she crashed into Tony’s Subs restaurant in Deerfield.
Jareline Martinez, of Waukegan, died as a result of blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, according to a report from the Lake County coroner.
The Deerfield Police Department and Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District were called around 2:20 a.m. Saturday to 1480 Waukegan Road in Deerfield over reports of a vehicle that crashed into a building.
Upon arrival, they found a 2002 Honda Accord overturned that had suffered substantial damage.
The car had ran into the popular sandwich shop and contained one person who had to be extricated by firefighters.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a preliminary report, Martinez was traveling southbound on Waukegan Road when she went off-road and hit the facility.
