Parker Young, 19, was arrested and charged over his culpability in the Saturday night crash involving the Abilene Christian University football team bus in Lubbock.
The team bus was headed back to Abilene after a game around midnight when it got into an accident at the intersection of the Marsha Sharp Freeway frontage road and University Avenue.
Four people were injured when Young crashed into the bus after disregarding traffic directions.
The collision sent the bus into another vehicle.
One student-athlete, two coaches, and the bus driver were all taken to the hospital in Lubbock after the crash with minor injuries.
Young was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
The Abilene Christian University team was returning following a gut-wrenching 52-51 overtime loss to the Red Raiders. They play the University of West Georgia in Abilene next week.
