Who are Jaime Mesa and Anthony Morales? Duo Arrested for Illegal Street Race that Killed Four Family Members

Two people, Jaime Mesa and Anthony Morales, have been arrested and charged with manslaughter and other charges after participating in a street race that wiped out nearly an entire family on Saturday.

Mesa and Morales were racing through the streets of Grand Prairie when Mesa, in a red Dodge Charger, rammed into a Chevy Traverse carrying the Rosales family.

The impact flipped their SUV into a gas station where it exploded, killing Jessie Rosales and his wife, Lorena, as well as their children, 13-year-old Stephanie, and son, 6-year-old Angel Rosales.

Their 16-year-old son, Anthony Rosales, was the only survivor of the crash, and that was only because he had been thrown out of the SUV before it caught on fire.

Grand Prairie police say 20-year-old Jaime Mesa was allegedly street racing in his red Charger on South Belt Line Road with 22-year-old Anthony Morales in a white Charger.

Police say Mesa struck the Chevy Traverse carrying the Rosales family as they were turning left.

Following the crash, passers-by saw Mesa stuck in his car and helped free him. Police arrived on the scene and arrested him.

Morales fled the scene of the accident but was arrested Sunday night.

Mesa is in hospital and once discharged, faces charges of manslaughter, racing on a highway and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe has been started to help the Rosales family – you can donate here.
