Shawn Houser, a Fortville Indiana teen who was involved in a ghastly accident is currently in critical condition and in need of prayers and best wishes, his family has announced.
According to reports, Shawn was involved in an accident with four other boys in which he was the driver.
All four other kids are in ok shape except Shawn who was badly injured and is currently hospitalized.
Who is Shawn Houser, Mount Vernon High School Junior Fighting for Life After Ghastly Accident
Shawn Cameron Houser is a Mount Vernon High School junior who is currently in a dire situation following a serious accident that nearly took his life.
Houser was a varsity soccer player for the school and a great one at that as his stats show.
A forward, Shawn stood at 5’11” and 160 lbs. He had excelled in his sophomore year as he led the team to an impressive record with 8 goals and 2 assists according to maxprep.
Aside from playing Varsity football at Mount Vernon, Shawn played for the U17 side of Hoosier FC.
Shawn was a soccer dynamo and for all intents and purposes was set for a bright future in the game until a fateful ride with friends went wrong.
Houser was driving four friends around when they crashed.

While all four passengers appeared to have escaped unscathed, Shawn bore the brunt of the impact and was left in critical condition.
Posts on social media revealed his condition is currently pretty dire after the crash.
Khara Christine Sinclair, a family friend gave details of the crash, writing on Facebook: “One of my friends son and one of Taelyn’s classmates… was in a bad car accident w 4 other boys and he was the driver. All the other boys are pretty banged up but ok considering- however Shawn Cameron Houser is in desperate need of prayers right now,”
Another post from Erin Houser, Shawn’s mother, revealed he had been sent to the St Vincent Trauma/Neuroscience ICU following the accident where he is fighting for his life.
Erin said her son is unconscious and on a breathing machine, underscoring exactly how frightening his current condition is.
She added that while he is showing signs of responsiveness, he has severe injuries including brain trauma, bleeding, and swelling on the brain!
Erin expressed gratitude to God that her son made it through the first 24 hours and hoped for better news in the coming days and weeks.
“Please keep the prayers coming & going. He is definitely fighting to find his way back to us! He is strong and he is a fighter, Please pray that he finds his way,” she said.
Erin Houser also thanked God that all four other boys in the accident where relatively unharmed.
“Thank you so very much for all the phone calls, texts, FB shares, and all the community support from friends, family, and his soccer families. I wish Shawn could have seen all of the people that came to see him…The NeuroSurgical team here in the ICU has been amazing and we have nothing but faith that they and God will get us through this,” she concluded.
As of the morning of Friday, June 21st, the latest update from a family friend was that Houser had achieved some ‘small progress’. The post also called for more prayers for Erin and Shawn as the battle goes on.
“Also, Erin is a single Mom, has another son and is missing work right now, to be by Shawn’s side. They have set up a Go Fund Me, if you’d like to support the Houser Family! Much love and Healing!” Courtner Tucker-Trotter added.
The fundraiser for Shawn has so far raised $16k out of a $50k goal.
Shawn Houser’s tragic accident is truly unfortunate seeing as how he had begun carving a path to greatness for himself.
Life does throw us such curveballs every now and then and while it doesn’t always turn out the way we want, in this situation there still remains hope that things can turn out in a good way.
As the old saying goes, so long as there is life, there is hope!
