A shocking incident on Thursday, 20th of June 2024 brought some unexpected bad news to one tight-knit community in Oklahoma.

Local soccer star Ryker Milton, son of Lloyd and Sarah Milton of Muskogee OK, had departed to Florida to enjoy some much-needed rest and vacation time when he was suddenly reported dead.

The news floored almost anyone in the community who heard it as they could not conceivably buy the thought that young and vibrant Ryker had died.

Yet, that’s exactly what had happened, leaving many people completely flabbergasted over what they were being told.

As people digested the information and accepted it, tributes of all sorts started appearing online for Milton.

Ryker, who was a soccer star, recently graduated from Hilldale High School and played for them as a forward. He stood at 5′ 11”, 180 lbs, and played as a forward for the school.

Unsurprisingly, his soccer family was one of the very first to mourn him.

Hilldale Soccer, the soccer club for Hilldale Public Schools, shared the news of Ryker’s passing with their followers.

Today, we lost one of the most special kids to come through our program. It’s so hard to describe this young man in words that will do his life justice. I don’t know where to begin. Tonight’s prayer circle truly showed the impact he made. In such a short notice, all of these people showed up to honor Ryker and pray for his family and so many more people that couldn’t make it also loved this kid!” they wrote on Facebook.

Continuing their tribute, they noted how Milton had a passion for soccer and above all, in representing Christ in everything he did.

Sharing a photo of the young man celebrating after scoring a goal, they noted he had an infectious personality and did everything with a “smile on his face and an attitude that made you smile,”

Many other similar tributes popped up to the extent it would be folly to attempt to reproduce all.

However, the consensus was about the amazing person that Milton was and how he led a life of righteousness.

Conner Schwab, the Head Coach of Hilldale High, also had one of the best tributes for the young man.

“Ryker lived his life for Christ every day and had just started working for his church. He didn’t have to get ready for when the Lord called him home because he stayed ready by living for Him every single day and letting others know about Him. He was such a great, young man. Let his life remind all of us to stay ready and live a Christ centered life like Ryker did. I’m so proud of everything he’s done,” he wrote.

Luke Leatherman also had a beautiful tribute to the young man including a video of him sharing a thoughtful message.

Aside from soccer, Milton played baseball and basketball.

The death of a young talent is always a difficult pill to swallow and going through these tributes you can tell how hard-hit those closest to Ryker are for his sad demise.

Our deepest condolences to his family and closest friends and acquaintances – and may he rest in peace.

A GoFundMe has been started to support the Milton family at this trying time.
