A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to help the surviving family of Nathan Potter, an Appalachian Electric Cooperative Lineman who was killed while working on a power line.

Potter was killed Tuesday morning after being electrocuted while working to install new service.

He leaves behind his wife, Krissy, and 3 daughters.

AEC, in a statement, said crews were working to install a new service in Grainger County when Potter was electrocuted.

AEC is a close-knit organization that doesn’t just provide power to our members and the community, we’re part of the community. Today, we lost one of our fellow AEC Family Members and this tragedy is felt by everyone.” AEC General Manager Josh Compton said. “Working as a lineman is a respectable and honorable profession. We mourn the loss of our colleague during this incredibly difficult time. Their family is in our thoughts and prayers.”

Potter worked as a lineman for over six years.

His wife Krissy was a stay-at-home mom and to help her and the kids in this difficult time, a GoFundMe was started.

“The world tragically lost a precious soul today. Nathan Potter was a Godly man and devoted to his family. Nate was a good lineman and a hard worker. He leaves behind a wife and 3 beautiful girls. Firstly, let’s pray for this family every day. Secondly, let’s come together and support Krissy (who is a stay at home mom) and the girls. Let’s make sure they only have to worry about taking care of each other during this difficult time. Thank you in advance for all of your support,” organizer Sarah Farris said.

The fundraiser has so far raised about $39,000 USD out of its $50,000 goal.
