Maxwell Robert Wilson, a Lakeville teen tragically suffered life-threatening injuries in an accident that happened while he was riding his motorized scooter in the city.

Tragedy struck the family of Maxwell Max Robert Wilson when he went out for a ride on his motorized scooter, unfortunately never to return ‘the same’.

Wilson was trying to cross 179th Street at Granby Lane in Lakeville when he was struck by a car.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital where he currently remains on life support.

Due to the extent of his brain injuries, his family intends to take him off on Wednesday, June 5th.

Young Wilson’s life journey being tragically cut short in such a manner has sent his parents, immediate family, friends, and colleagues into mourning.

More details about him are now coming out as friends and family pay tribute, organize fundraisers and memorial events, and tell the story of who Max Wilson actually was in life.

Maxwell Robert Wilson was born some 14 years ago to Chad and Jody Wilson of Lakeville.

He has one sister, Morgan, who has not left his side for a second since his injury, according to his family.

Max as he was fondly known was a big lover of sports, his family, friends, and having adventures, according to his mother.

He was a diehard fan of the Minnesota Vikings.

His love for sports manifested in him working hard to be an athlete, competing in wrestling, and making an impression with his skills.

Max brought so much joy to everyone around him during his time alive and was a delight to his friends and a constant source of pride to his parents.

Even at his young age, he had been awarded by Century Middle School for his productive contributions to the school community, a testament to the seriousness with which the young man took making a difference in life.

Unbeknownst to the Wilson family, tragedy was lurking on Monday, the 3rd of June when Max went out for a ride.

According to multiple news reports, a car struck Max’s scooter around 3: 15 p.m. that fateful day.

While Wilson suffered catastrophic injuries, the driver who hit him was not hurt.

Currently, it’s not known if she would face any charges for the crash.

Wilson was taken to the HCMC Hospital in Minneapolis where he remains on life support.

His mother, Jody Wilson has revealed that a ‘Hero Walk’ would be held for Max on Wednesday around 1:15 p.m. after which the family plans to take him off life support.

In a final show of selflessness and in the spirit of generosity in which Wilson lived his life, his organs would be donated to those in need.

Tributes reveal the real Max Wilson, a boy who loved life and football and who was a joy to be with wherever he went.

A tribute from Brittany Inman on Facebook said: “[Max] is an amazing kid all around. My soon to be step dad, Max’s mother, his sister, myself and the rest of the family are devastated and heartbroken. We Iove our Max, he brightens up every room he walks in. Those lucky to know this boy know how special he is,”

A fundraiser was started by friends to help his parents and family pay off his medical bills and other expenses related to his funeral.

As at the time of publication, the fundraiser was close to its goal of $40,000, having raised approximately $33,000.

At only 14 years old, Wilson’s death will truly sting his family.

His infectious personality, leadership and selfless nature would be missed.
