A former middle school guidance counselor identified as Luisa Melchionne has been arrested and charged with s*xual assault of a 7th grade student.
Melchionne, 47, a New Canaan resident, is accused of sending explicit photos of herself as well as giving ‘lapdances’ and engaging in other completely inappropriate behavior with the student who is only 13.
The abuse was uncovered after Melchione lent a friend her phone which contained explicit messages. The friend contacted police in April, triggering an investigation.
Melchione allegedly abused the student who was in the 7th grade at Nathan Hale Middle School in Norwalk.
The abuse, which began sometime in spring 2023, only ended after the student transferred to Roton Middle School in February 2024.
The mother of three exchanged explicit photographs with the 13-year-old and even compared portions of his anatomy to her husband’s, an arrest affidavit revealed.
She also sent him cash for food and Uber rides. He also received a $100 cash gift from Melchionne for Christmas last year.
“The child stated that he would receive ‘lap dances’ while in her office,” the warrant states. “The child [also] stated that Melchionne performed oral sex on him on numerous occasions … The child stated that the door would be closed and the window blind pulled down for privacy.”
Melchionne faces charges including second-degree s*xual assault, illegal s*xual contact, and risk of injury to a child.
Following her arrest, Melchionne was released on $500,000 bond on Thursday, July 11th.
She has resigned from her position at Norwalk Public Schools.
In February, Melchionne’s husband filed for divorce and is seeking primary custody of the couple’s three children.
