Lauren Whinery, a junior at the University of Alabama, originally from Ely, Iowa, has tragically died, her obituary announcing the sad death throwing her friends and family into mourning.
Whinery’s cause of death has not been officially declared, although some reports have chalked it down to an accident.
More details are expected in the coming days but in the meantime, the tragic death of an extraordinary young woman with a long life ahead of her is being mourned.

A beautiful young lady who had big dreams for her future, Lauren Whinery, has tragically lost her life, as revealed by her obituary, her life cut off by the hands of fate before it could even really begin,
Lauren, originally from Ely, Iowa, and Cape Coral, Florida, was a student at the University of Alabama where she was studying for a Bachelor of Science (BS) Marketing, Sales, Global & Cultural Perspectives.
Whinery was in her junior year and a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Psi sorority.
A dynamo in school who was both excellent in and out of class, Whinery was part of many more societies in school including the UA Miracle, the Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, the Professional Women in Communication and Business Society and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Lauren according to those who knew her was outgoing, full of energy and vivacity. Many who crossed paths with her marveled at her capacity for joy, always spotted with a smile on her face and a kind word for others.
Whinery was not just a social whizkid but academically had multiple plans for her future.
Majoring in marketing at the University of Alabama, she was also a dual minor in Sales and Global & Cultural Perspectives.
In her self-bio on LinkedIn, Whinery described herself as an “immensely driven, reflective, and flexible leader,” and “experienced in team management, evaluating outreach initiatives, and formulating marketing plans,”
Her accomplishments and achievements had been blossoming too, having been named to the University Spring Presidents List for achieving a 4.0 GPA.
She jubilated on LinkedIn, writing just a couple of weeks ago: “I am so proud to be recognized on the UA Presidents List for the Spring 2024 semester! President’s list recognizes full-time undergraduate students who made a 4.0 GPA or above. It is the grit from failures that make successes like this, in which I am extremely grateful for,”
Before the University of Alabama, Lauren attended Prairie High School where she graduated in 2022. She competed in track and field and much like the University was holding numerous positions of honor.
Lauren Whinery throughout her life had been striving for excellence and was well on her way to achieving it. Throughout every level of her education she had excelled both in and out of class, been a lady, and even at times excelled in athletic activities.
Her passing is more than a great loss and the Shueyville Church in Iowa, where Whinery originally hailed from, recognized the great loss with a touching tribute.
“Friends, one of our former youth, Lauren Whinery, passed away today. It was sudden and unexpected. I am grieving and I know many of you are, as well,” a post from lead pastors Brody and Nick read.
The post announced a planned prayer and vigil for Lauren on the evening of July 2nd.
The tragic death of Lauren has robbed the world of a future world-beater, cut down in her prime.
It truly is tragic how these things happen sometimes. May she rest in peace.
