Kaden Cole Mayhood, a Billings Senior High School football player, skier, and lover of bikes, among others, has reportedly passed away, his death leaving his friends, family, and community completely shattered.

Mayhood, a young soul filled with joy and always with a smile to spare, tragically died on July 1st, 2024.

Mayhood was reportedly battling serious personal issues, ‘carrying a cross’, as one tribute put it, and eventually succumbed to his troubles.

An obituary of young Kaden Mayhood, 19, announcing his tragic death, has surfaced on social media, throwing his friends and loved ones into deep mourning.

Kaden, a Billings, Montana teen, reportedly died the night of Monday, July 1st.

An athletic young man, Mayhood played boys Varsity football at Billings Senior High School. At 5’9”, 160 lbs, he played both as a quarterback and a cornerback, a testament to his versatility.

As he confidently said in his student bio: “I’m an athlete that you can put anywhere on the field,”

Aside from football, Mayhood was an excellent skier and was shown to also love motorbikes as he’s been known to be seen riding a time or two.

Kaden was a delight to be around, a great friend, a disciplined athlete, and a leader among his peers.

On and off the field, Kaden Mayhood was building up toward a future of excellence and overachievement.

Tragically, all these were cut short the night of July 1st when he was found dead.

Kaden’s friend Jane, who was a fellow skier and spent a lot of time with him, took to Instagram to mourn his death with a tearful tribute.

According to her, Kaden was everything for her, the one person who ‘got’ her and was always there for her.

“…I love you so much Kaden, you will forever be my best friend I will forever cherish the time I got to spend with you. You showed me a part of myself that I didn’t even know I had,” Jane said, accompanied by a heartwarming reel of the best times they’d spent together, mostly skiing.

Jane continued, noting how Kaden always made her feel good about herself when they spent time together.

You always hyped me up no matter what and I love you with all of my heart,” she continued, before hinting that he had possibly harmed himself, writing; “I’m so sorry that this became the solution. I hope in another life I will see you again. Rest easy Kaden Mayhood. You are so loved. Remember to tell your friends you love them,”

Another post from a former coach of Kaden’s contained similar language as Jeffrey Keller wrote on Facebook after sharing Mayhood’s memorial post : “I coached him for a few years. He was Staley’s buddy. I just don’t have words.
We have no idea the cross someone is carrying….it doesn’t take but a minute to love on others…”

The tragic death of Kayden Mayhood has shocked all, with people struggling to comprehend how someone so easygoing, funny, and accomplished, could be gone so soon.

To remember him, Kayden’s family is holding a celebration of life on July 6th, 2024 at Camelot Ranch in Billings.

“It is with heavy hearts that we invite you to join us in celebrating his beautiful life,” the Kayden Mayhood obituary read.
