A Utah woman, Katherine Lia Cantwell went missing for six days, sparking a frantic search by her friends and family who eventually heaved a huge sigh of relief as she was found.
Friends and family of Katherine started flooding social media with stories about her disappearance in recent days, giving details to aid in the search and calling for help from the public.
In the past few hours, a soothing update emerged that she has been found, bringing a happy ending to this potentially distressing story.
Katherine Lia Cantwell, Missing Person from Utah Disappeared for Six Days
The news first emerged about the disappearance of Katherine Lia Cantwell from her daughter, Addie Cantwell, who took to social media for help in finding her missing mother.
Addie in her post cried out that her mother had been missing for over six days and that she was now worried sick.
Katherine had gone camping in several areas in Southern Utah, her daughter said, but no one had seen or heard from her in days.
She was driving a 2020 Mercedes Sprinter Van with license plate T230NB and was last seen leaving the Millsite State Campground on June 13th.
Katherine Cantwell is a white woman with natural grey hair, and hazel eyes and stands at 5’11”, her daughter clarified, and is traveling with her cat named Hazelnut.
“Please spread the word and if you know anyone that was in the area please let me know. We have filed a missing persons report and have had the police searching the area she was last seen with no leads as to where she is,” Addie Cantwell wrote.
She added that her mom had been traveling for a year but she always lets her know where she would be.
This time, however, she hadn’t heard from her in eight days.
Her post was quickly reposted by a host of other concerned accounts as the search for Katherine on social media intensified.
Facebook user Nicole Renee Richie, a friend of Addie’s, reshared the post.
“My friend Addies mom has been missing for 6 days! She has been camping around Southern Utah. If you see her please reach out to me or addie on the instagram handle in the picture (She doesnt use Facebook) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 She is alone with her cat Hazel pictured below,” she said.
As mentioned in the posts, Addie filed a missing persons report with the Castle Dale Police and they commenced a search with no success.
However, good news started filtering in on Thursday, June 20th.
In a new post, Addie Cantwell said her mom had been found.
“A lead from someone who reached out on Facebook led us to her in a remote location. She has talked to an officer and verified she is okay. Thank you so much for all your help,” she said.
The news was met with jubilation from all and sundry.
“Thank God dude, I’m so happy, I couldn’t even imagine going through what you guys just went through,” one Jordan Bright commented.
Finding out your mom has gone missing has got to be one of the worst feelings in the world and its heartwarming to see such a story end in a happy place for once.
There are a lot of dark things happening almost daily across the States particularly as it relates to missing persons and every once in a while a happy ending comes along to warm the hearts and this is one such instance.
