Chicago Gospel Singer, Dante Hall Passes Away In Car Accident, Death Stuns Community

Popular Chicago gospel singer Dante Hall has died in a reported car accident, alongside another big name in the music game, Morris Euman, their deaths stunning their friends, family, and the community at large.

Hall and Euman died Sunday, June 30th, according to posts from Hall’s family and by grieving friends and fans on Facebook.

Tributes to the duo have praised their impact on the Chicago music community.

Chicago gospel singer Dante Hall has died, his family announced in a Facebook post shared over the weekend. He was 47.

The post read: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Dante Hall. Please keep our family in your prayers. Homegoing arrangements will be forthcoming,”

Hall died alongside another popular name in the Chicago music industry, Maurice Euman.

Dante T. Hall was born on December 29th, 1976. A Chicago native, he grew up with music in his blood.

Hall’s grandfather was a pastor and his mom was an amazing gospel singer, hence his path was in a way set for him way before he was born.

He sang and played instruments as a child in the church and as he grew, decided to concentrate on singing.

Hall studied accounting at DePaul University and Pre-Pharmacy at Purdue University. He went to Lane Tech College Prep.

Hall was an independent artist all his life, never signing to any major label. He relished the freedom that gave him and dabbled in gospel, RnB, and soul.

His musical influences included D’Angelo, alongside Tommy Sims, Donny Hathaway, Kim Burell, Aretha Franklin, and H.E.R, among many others.

He performed and shared the stage with powerhouse artists including Bebe and Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Michael McDonald, Dave Hollister, and Donald Lawrence.

Lawrence, a Grammy award-winning producer, and artist, said of Hall: “Dante is the epitome of ’70s soul meets new school R&B. The texture of his voice is like a vintage piece of art appreciating with time…He is definitely one you don’t wanna miss!”

Aside from music, Hall was an entrepreneur and owned many businesses in the Chicago area including the Bellwood bar and restaurant Donnie’s Place where he uses old family recipes and knowledge passed down from his ancestors to provide a unique experience.

Dante Hall was many people’s favorite singer in the Chicago music scene and his reported death on June 30th stunned a ton of people from friends, family, and fans.

Reports say Dante Hall died in a car accident but official details are yet to be released.

One Facebook post from a top chef in Chicago shared info on the supposed accident: “He had a heart attack while driving. His name is Dante Hall. We shared the same birthday – 12/29. He sang with Donald Lawrence and just about everyone else. He had a restaurant and bar in Maywood called Donnie’s Place. His mother fried fish on Fridays. He’s literally Chicago gospel ROYALTY. He can be heard on almost everyone’s CD and he often sang BGV’s for Anita Wilson for her recordings and live shows,”

Many others came out with amazing tributes to the man Hall was.

“I’ve known Dante Hall since I was 17. He loved the west side! He let it be known we’re from out west this the best side of Chicago!!!! His restaurant in Bellwood was growing and becoming a Chicago staple! Dante was one of the greatest male vocalist in our city!,” said Louis C. Wimbley.

Wimbley also eulogized Euman, who he described as one of the best bass players in the region.

Latoya Kenya also shared amazing photos with Hall eulogizing him. According to her, instead of mourning she rather chooses to celebrate the many successes he had in life. She praised him for his jovial and carefree nature and for living every day of his life without regret.

D Brandon Campbell also said: “My heart is shattered. Dante Hall was a good dude. Humble, funny, cool, smooth. I’m floored this dude is gone! I just can’t believe it!”

Dante Hall and Maurice Euman’s passing at the same time has completely floored the Chicago music scene. Both dying at the same time magnifies the feeling of loss and despair those who loved them are currently feeling.

Nevertheless, the worthwhile lives both men lived have led to amazing tributes to their lives, revealing both men embodied the best of us in their lives.

They would surely be missed, and may they rest in peace.
