Connor DiNapoli, a student of the University of Dayton tragically lost his life while on a study abroad to Rome, his family and community coming together to start a GoFundMe to raise funds in his name.

DiNapoli’s unexpected death stunned his family and friends back home who were as excited as he was about his opportunity abroad.

In the wake of his death, tributes are pouring in for the young man who was a source of pride for his family through his hard work, determination, and kind nature.

Connor DiNapoli was working hard towards fulfilling his dreams when tragedy struck him unexpectedly, his life lost in a sudden moment.

The University of Dayton in Ohio announced the tragic news revealing that Connor, who was on a trip to Rome, had passed away.

He died Thursday, June 27th.

A statement from the University announced the tragic death of 21-year-old Connor DiNapoli, a junior marketing major.

We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Connor’s family, friends, faculty, staff, and our entire campus community,” the university said in a statement.

The university said it was planning to hold a memorial service for DiNapoli later this fall.

Connor was a sophomore and had held several jobs including a Food Server at Buffalo Wild Wings and a dishwasher at Emporio Mega 100.

He had an incredible study abroad opportunity in Rome, the beautiful Italian capital and was having the best time of his life when tragedy struck.

To help his family, particularly his mother Lisa DiNapooli, friends and other family members started a GoFundMe in the name of Connor.

The fundraiser said Connor was amazing, known for having a soft heart and a kind soul.

“[He was{ a best friend to so many kids in our community,” the fundraiser said, calling for all who had enjoyed the kind nature of Connor to donate to help alleviate his family’s burden at this difficult time.

“Your contribution, no matter the size, will provide practical support and show our solidarity with the DiNapoli’s as they navigate this unimaginable loss…Your kindness and support will make a meaningful difference in their lives as they honor the memory of their beloved son,” organizers Melissa King and Tracey Settembrino said.

The fundraiser, in a heartwarming show of support, had raised circa $17,000 out of its $25,000 goal at the time of publication.

Meanwhile, a former teacher of Connor’s also eulogized him with a beautiful tribute on Facebook.

Ann Fett Mallozzi pointed out how he was a great kid, noting the best word to describe him was ‘vivacious’.

She also called on the community to buckle up and show support for the DiNapoli family.

The tragic loss of Connor has left his family reeling, a young man with a promising future was sadly cut down in his prime.

Nevertheless, the show of support from his community is a shining testament to the life of Connor and a strong indicator that his legacy will continually be felt irrespective of his passing.
