Who was Shakeia Allen? – Baltimore Woman Killed by Ex-Boyfriend

In a stunning story out of Baltimore, Maryland, a beautiful lady identified as Shakeia Allen was gunned down in broad daylight by her ex-boyfriend and abuser, identified as Amir Johnson.

The brutal murder was caught on video, showing Johnson tracking down Shakeia, chasing and terrorizing her through the streets of Parkville before gunning her down like a hunter taking down his prey.

All throughout this situation, there were tons of witnesses who saw everything go down and attempted to end the situation but with Johnson quite clearly armed there was little anyone could do.

Incredibly, Shakeia had recently been granted a kind of temporary restraining order against Johnson but when it came down to it nothing protected her as her life was senselessly snuffed out.

Shakeia’s death has raised questions about the efficacy of the system abused domestic victims have to protect them from their abusers, particularly as this is hardly an isolated case and victims such as Shakeia appear in the news cycle every once in a while.

What happened between Shakeia Allen and Amir Johnson?

Shakeia Allen was a gorgeous Baltimore woman who was gunned down and killed in broad daylight in Parkville by her boyfriend on April 21st.

Like most of such cases, Shakeia and Amir were once upon a time living together and having a semblance of a great relationship going.

Somewhere along the line, however, something went horribly wrong and Johnson apparently started abusing his beautiful girlfriend.

Unable to take said abuse anymore, Shakeia made a move to go back to her own residence and informed Johnson about it, which is when things escalated to completely dangerous territory.

Johnson reportedly threatened Shakeia and things got so bad that cops were called to the residence the two shared at the time.

In perhaps a sign of things to come, cops found a gun on Johnson at the time!

No longer feeling safe, Shakeia filed for a restraining order against him and managed to get a temporary restraining order against him.

According to numerous reports, there was a hearing scheduled for April 15th to issue a more permanent ruling on the protective order but for whatever reason neither Allen or Johnson showed up.

About a week after that, Johnson chased Shakeia down and shot her even as she screamed about having an interim order against him.

Shakeia’s death lead to questions about the efficacy of these systems to protect victims of domestic abuse, and House of Ruth, an organization that advocates for victims of domestic violence, called for strengthening of such systems.

“We strongly advocate for the continued strengthening of systems that enable law enforcement and the courts to better protect victims of intimate partner violence. While protective orders are an important aspect of the safety net for victims, our community needs to turn its focus to holding accountable those responsible for the violence,” an official told 11 News.

On social media, some people advocated a more straightforward solution – arming one’s self.

“YOYO (You’re On Your Own) No One is Coming to Save You. You are your own first response A restraining order is just useless a piece of paper. People will standby and watch, but ultimately no one is going to protect/save you,” Chuck Renfro Jr ranted.

You must learn how to embrace self-defense and to defend yourself, especially with the most effective self-defense tool available to you-a gun,” he concluded.

Whichever side of the debate you’re on, whether it be strengthening the system or arming yourself, everyone can agree something needs to be done to protect vulnerable women, and even men, when it comes to dealing with an abusive partner.
