A New Jersey teacher is accused of taking advantage of a pretty good relationship with a student’s family to groom that student and molest her.
Jenna Sciabica, a teacher at Malboro Middle School was accused publicly of molesting a teen student in her care,
The student’s mother made a public splash with her accusation, storming a school board meeting to call out the school not only for the act, which was apparently caught on camera, but for their inaction.
She was furious that despite the whole assault being caught on camera and even in full view of another teacher, nothing happened to Sciabica.
“The only reason why it was caught was it was on camera in a hallway. She wasn’t even fired she resigned,” the aggrieved mother said.
Following the public accusation, wheels started moving and some action was finally taken against the offending teacher.
In the weeks following Sciabica being exposed, she left her job but that was not to be the end of the saga as police also took up the case.

After the police investigation turned up only a disappointing single charge of harassment-offensive touching, the determined parents of the abused victim decided to sue Sciabica and the Marlboro school district.
The lawsuit claims the school did nothing after their daughter was abused and was even forced to attend classes with her abuser Sciabica due to the school’s reticence to do the right thing.
It also claims a pattern of s*xually charged behaviur by Sciabica, painting her as a character overly comfortable with inputting s*xual energy where it does not belong.
The lawsuit said Sciabica makes s*xual comments before students and even sometimes describes her s*x life to them despite the age of her students being between 10 and 14.
Prior to filing the case, the parents had sought a settlement from the district to no avail, prompting Sciabica’s attorney Mitchell Ansell to allege the lawsuit is nothing but a money grab.
She claimed that the abused student’s family was very familiar with her client and had sought her services to privately tutor the girl’s two younger brothers.
“The woman who filed this frivolous lawsuit welcomed my client into her home and treated her like family for the past three years,” Ansell said.
“She wanted my client to be actively involved in helping to raise her daughter. They treated my client as if they were her aunt.”
However, the attorney for the girl’s parents dismissed that, noting a prior relationship does not justify the abuse.
The case remains ongoing, both the criminal and civil procedures – and it will be interesting to see how the civil suit pans out.
The girl’s parents allege a video exists of the assault hence it might just be that they walk out with a pretty hefty settlement – some consolation for the abuse their child had to endure.
