A 19-year-old was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Edgewater early Sunday.
The accident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Solomons Island Road near the South River Bridge in Edgewater, at Old South River Road South.
19-year-old Daniel Joseph Helmly Jr. of Lothian, Maryland, died in the crash.
The crash occurred when a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle traveling northbound on Solomons Island Road collided with a 2003 Ford Expedition making a left turn onto Old South River Road South.
The impact resulted in the death of Helmly Jr. who was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the Ford Expedition, a 52-year-old woman from Rockville, Maryland, along with her passengers, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
