A man has been arrested and charged with capital murder after a woman was found dead in an apartment in northwest Harris County on Friday.
Christopher Braziel, 42, is believed to have shot the victim multiple times sometime after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The victim, who was identified as Heather Smith, was found Friday after a loved one went to check on her apartment after not hearing from her.
According to police, there were obvious signs of damage to her front door. Video footage was used to identify a suspect.
Braziel was arrested and charged with capital murder. Prosecutors requested $3 million bond for the capital murder charge but the court denied bail altogether.
At the moment, little information has been given about the motivation for the crime.
However, people who knew the suspect described him as dangerous and unhinged.
“I had to move because of that guy. He threatened me and my family 2 years ago and the Harris County DA let him off of the charges we pressed against him. He failed multiple drug tests, didn’t go to multiple court hearings, and there’s more I could tell,” read one comment on social media.
It continued: His motives for this? No idea. He had NO reason to come after us. Either way we TOLD EVERYONE at the DA’s office and Precinct he was going to kill someone and NO CARED. I hope the family and friends sue the a** off Harris County DA,”
