Who is Brian Briddle? Driver Charged Over Crash that Killed University of Delaware Freshman

A motorcycle rider who hit and killed a University of Delaware freshman on the first day of school has been charged with murder and a slew of other charges.

Brian Briddle, 27, struck 18-year-old Noelia Gomez while she was walking in a crosswalk near the university Tuesday night.

Briddle at the time was on the run from police after refusing to stop at an earlier traffic stop.

The crash left Gomez in critical condition and she received first-aid from bystanders around. Ultimately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Briddle appeared in court Thursday and charged with murder, disregarding a police officer’s signal andoperation of an unregistered motor vehicle.

He remains in custody after failing to post his $362,005 bond.
