A woman killed after being struck by a propeller while trying to board a boat from a raft in Harvey Cedars has been identified.
Zeina Mahafzah, 18, of Wayne, New Jersey, was in a raft being pulled by a boat Sunday afternoon in Sunset Park when she tried to get into the vessel.
New Jersey State Police and Harvey Cedars PD have opened an investigation into the incident.
“The Harvey Cedars Police Department and the New Jersey State Police are investigating a tragic boating accident off of Harvey Cedars. As the investigation is in its preliminary stages, we ask that you keep the family and community in your thoughts and prayers,” a statement read.
Sunset Park is a recreation area in Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island.
