A woman who killed herself and her 9-month-old son at their home in North Andover on Monday has been identified.
Police responded at 5:30 p.m. to a home in the 200 block of Turnpike Street, where they found a woman and an infant both suffering from knife wounds.
The duo were identified Tuesday as Jennifer T. Paez, 35., and Valentino Paez.
Jennifer was pronounced dead at the scene but her son was taken to Lawrence General Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m.
Authorities are unclear what led to the murder-suicide.
“While everyone is, understandably, still struggling to comprehend what went so terribly wrong here, our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Jennifer Paez and her son, Valentino,” Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said.
“I would also like to thank the North Andover Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and all those responding for helping this family and this community in the wake of this unimaginable crime.”
