A Meriden man identified as Juan Cruz was killed following a motorcycle crash on Wednesday.
36-year-old Cruz was riding a motorcycle on East Main Street and Paddock Avenue around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday when he collided with a pickup truck.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures before transporting him to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.
He tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the truck was also sent to hospital for treatment.
According to Meriden police, the driver of a black Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on East Main Street preparing to make a left turn onto Paddock Avenue in the left turn only lane while Cruz, who was riding an orange Honda CBR600 motorcycle, was traveling east on East Main Street.
Several witnesses told police that Cruz was traveling at a high rate of speed for the area just before to the crash.
The Meriden Police Department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident.
