Popular Utah-based influencer Courtney Cahoon has taken to social media to express gratitude after she and her family escaped a harrowing boating accident on Lake Powell.
The accident occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2024, when a simple family trip by Courtney, her husband Jake, and others nearly went deadly.
The boat Courtney and her family were in struck a submerged rock and threw some of them off the boat but thankfully no one sustained any fatal injuries and they were all able to go home with simple cuts, bruises, and some lost teeth.

The Lake Powell boating accident involving influencer Courtney Cahoon and her family happened over the weekend on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
On that fateful day, Courtney, her husband Jake Cahoon, her brother-in-law, his kid, and many others were all on a boating trip to Lake Powell, a reservoir on the Colorado that flows through Utah and Arizona. It is a major vacation destination.
While on their boat they got involved in an accident when their boat struck a rock.
According to Courtney, the incident was crazily scary as some people were thrown from the boat.
“We were in a boating accident, Jake and my brother-in-law and nephew were life-flighted from the accident. They are home now they’re ok. Everyone is alive and doing well… I can’t believe that my entire family was on the boat. We only walked away with some bumps and bruises and some stitches,” she said in a video announcement on TikTok.
Courtney also revealed that her husband Jake lost some teeth and had to have some work done replacing them.

In a thread on Reddit, one user shared details on what caused the boating accident.
“They accidentally hit a huge rock that was under the water. It rained the night before and water levels went up and the rock wasn’t visible. Crashing into the rock caused a sudden stop and some of the adults in the boat went flying out and sustaining non life threatening injuries and Jake hit his face on something and he lost some teeth and damaged many other teeth he will need lots of dental care in the future.
“The accident should have cause way more severe injuries than it did. There were multiple younger children on the boat and non were ejected or injured other than bumps and bruises. God was definitely watching over them and so many miracles occurred,” the user revealed.
So at this juncture, we can say Courtney’s husband and other family members including herself are very lucky to be alive because things could have very easily gotten out of hand based on the information that was just spelled out by this reddit user.
Thankfully, it seems luck, or fate, was on their side that day and they walked away with very few injuries.
