Elderly Minnetonka Man Kenneth Spitzmueller Kills Wife and Himself in Murder-Suicide

An elderly Minnetonka couple found dead of an apparent murder-suicide last weekend have been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Kenneth R. Spitzmueller, 76, shot and killed his wife Patricia A. Spitzmueller, 71, and then himself at their apartment on the 12200 block of Minnetonka Boulevard.

An autopsy determined Patricia Spitzmueller died by homicide and Kenneth Spitzmueller died by suicide.

Police were called to the Minnetonka Boulevard apartment around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, 18th July 2024 for a report of someone in need of CPR.

Arriving officers found two people dead in the apartment.

Police are yet to release any statement on the incident but the autopsy from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the couple and their manner of death.
