7 People Killed in Mississippi Bus Crash Identified

Seven people who were killed in a deadly crash in Mississippi over the weekend have been identified.

A commercial 2018 Volvo bus was traveling westbound on Interstate 20 near Bovina early Saturday when a left front tire failed and the vehicle veered onto an embankment and overturned onto its left side.

The deceased were identified Monday as: Miguel Arriaga, 61, Victor Garcia, 32, Moises Garcia, 31, Kain Gutierrez, 8, of Perla Gutierrez, 16, Elia Guzman, 63, and Angelica Palomino, 16, all of Mexico.

The bus was traveling from Atlanta to Dallas with 41 passengers and two drivers when the crash occurred, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Of the seven deceased, six people were pronounced dead at the scene and another died at a hospital. Thirty five other people were taken to hospitals by ambulance. Their conditions were not readily available on Monday.

The bus was operated by Autobuses Regiomontanos, a company that offers cross-border trips between 100 destinations in Mexico and the U.S.

The crash remains under investigation.
